There are all sorts of DJs, but the most successful ones have some distinct personality traits in common. Firstly, you’ve not got to be afraid of the crowd following your every move. You’ve got to be technically skilled, quick to lock the rhythm and tweak the beat. And finally, got to have some cheek, because a little cheekiness will get you a long way.

Andy Cessford (AKA Loop Corporation) has it sorted. Not afraid of the crowd? Having played numerous times for the riotous crowds of Turnmills, Ministry Of Sound, Pacha, Brixton Academy and Gatecrasher at long standing club brands such as The Gallery, Dirty, Twilo, Promised, Heat & Frantic, Spectrum and Supersonic Vague to name a few. International gigs have included Ibiza and Australia. Surely nothing can phase him?    

Technically skilled? He’s not content with just the CDJs - under his Loop Corporation pseudonym Andy uses Ableton and midi controllers to remix his and others’ tracks on the fly, delivering a tasty selection of bumping house and techno grooves, served up with that rich melodic vibe. Cheeky? It definitely takes some cheek to remix such a seminal track as Blue Monday!

Studying music production at Subbass and furthering that to gain a BSc (Hons) in Audio Recording Technology, it’s no wonder his productions and remixes have received support. This includes BBC Radio Nottingham Dean Jackson on ‘The Beat’ (the largest listened-to show outside London, syndicated across the Midlands) and Simon Saunders on Passion FM. His remix of Cowgirl by Underworld was picked up and supported by Mixmag’s Janette Slack. Techno god Richie Hawtin supported his Wahwahwah release. He has had successful releases on labels such as Nude Photo Music, Korner House Records, Rapid Fire Records, BASSment Records, AMP Head Music, 8 Ball Records and his own Discombobulate imprint.

With quality DJ’s and producers like Andy and his Loop Corporation pseudonym breaking through and producing exciting DJ sets and live shows coupled with top draw productions, the underground dance music scene will be in safe hands for years to come.
